| 2011 World Materials Summit |
Today, with all countries clamoring for more energy, we face the daunting task of increasing the production, accessibility, security and sustainability of energy for a global market. Success will only come through a combination of innovation and societal commitments built on a firm foundation of science and technology. And it is materials that will be the enabling technology— contributing in great part to improving energy efficiency and independence, bolstering national security, managing global climate changes and guaranteeing clean drinking water.
As an energy expert and one This Summit is the third in a series of international events sponsored by the Materials Research Society (MRS), the European Materials Research Society (E-MRS) and the Chinese Materials Research Society (C-MRS). As with the prior Summits held in Lisbon, Portugal, and Suzhou, China, this is an invitation-only gathering of world-renown technical experts and policymakers, assembled to assess and document global research and innovation needs, develop policies, and outline the future of advanced energy materials.
