Fall 12: Workshop - Clean coal and carbon dioxide recovery

The quickly increasing deal of energy, covered essentially today by fossil fuels generates a progressive increase of the content of CO2 in the atmosphere. In addition, the progressive increase in cost of liquid fuels contributes to an increasing demand for coal and gas. To reduce the impact of these fuels on the atmosphere, innovative solutions have to be developed to respond to the demand without a strong CO2 increase.

This symposium is devoted to analyze critically new possibilities offered first by "clean coal" production processes and also to reduce the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere. To develop economically valid processes the role of materials, especially catalysts will play a crucial role and plasma based processes materials able to resist to extrem conditions.

This symposium will provide a forum to exchange and discuss the various possibilities under consideration. Papers are sollicited in these domains.

Hot topics to be covered by the symposium:

This symposium has in mind to discuss the different kinds of technical processes to generate "clean coal" and to capture, purify CO2 for its transformation in chemical fuels. Emphasis will be given to the essential role of catalysts plasma processes etc...
