The 2010 Spring Meeting was held in Strasbourg at Palais des Congres, June 7 - 11, 2010. The conference featured 20 technical symposium, an exhibit, a plenary session with talks by outstanding researchers and a social event celebrating the winners of the 2010 student awards. More than 2.200 scientists, engineers, physicists and chemists attended the conference.
The 2010 Fall Meeting included 15 parallel symposia, plenary session and some satellite events. The conference was supported by the Polish Ministry for Science and Higher Education and was co-organized by the Polish Materials Science Society.

The 2009 Spring Meeting was held in Strasbourg at "Palais des Congres et de la Musique" from June 8 to 12. More than 2.250 scientists, engineers, physicists and chemists attended the conference.The scientific program highlighted advances in international materials research and key novel applications. Special attention was given to the role advanced materials have in solving the energy supply problem for our future. Furthermore, the participants had a unique opportunity to discuss, in a special workshop, the suggested best practices for education, training and entrepreneurship in the future European Institute of Technology (EIT).

The 2008 Spring Meeting was held in Strasbourg from May 26 - 30. The 2008 edition marked the 25th Anniversary of E-MRS. A special award for lifetime achievements in Materials Science was awarded to Professor Dan Schechtman of Technion, Israel. 1904 participants had registered for the 17 symposia being presented at the meeting. The countries with the largest number of participants were France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Romania, Spain and the UK. It was particularly pleasing that participation from Korea and Romania had shown a very significant increase.

More than 2100 participants from 61 countries had registered to the E-MRS 2007 Spring Meeting. 56 different organisations were participating in the technical exhibition. The countries with the largest number of participants, in order, were France, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK, Japan and Romania. The plenary session had been very good from the scientific aspect.
The 2007 Fall Meeting was held from 17 - 21 September at Warsaw University of Technology and consisted of 10 symposia, plenary, poster sessions and a workshop on "Perspectives of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology". 884 participants had registered. The 2007 Czochralski Award was made to Professor Shuji Nakamura during one of the plenary sessions. In addition, the Acta Materialia Gold Medal was presented to Professor Herbert Gleiter.

The 2006 E-MRS Spring Meeting was held in conjunction with the International Union of Materials Research Societies International Conference on Electronic Materials (E-MRS/IUMRS-ICEM 2006) in Nice, France, on May 29–June 2, 2006. The thread of electronic materials and devices ran through the 23 technical symposia that were organized within six clusters: Nanomaterials and Nanoelectronics, Synthesis and Characterization of Functional Materials, Materials for Energy, Composite and Organic Materials, Semiconductor Materials, and Education and Tutorials. Research conducted at the nanoscale level was also prominent in most symposia. The over 2.500 attendees from 62 countries were also treated to a plenary session, poster sessions, equipment exhibit, and an awards ceremony at the conference reception. The meeting included 10 parallel symposia, plenary sessions and some training activities for young researchers and scientists wishing to extend their expertise to new fields. E-MRS 2005 Spring Meeting, Strasbourg, May 31 – June 3. The conference included 17 symposia on various topics, in addition to an industrial forum on in-situ diagnostic and control systems in laser materials processing, a short course (MATSUP) on materials surface processing deposition and a forum on Europe-USA collaboration in materials research. E-MRS 2001 Spring Meeting, Strasbourg, June 5-8. More than 1.600 scientists of all disciplines attended the Conference. Nineteen symposia with 1.850 oral and poster presentations highlighted recent advances in the development, understanding of advanced materials.
